Hypnotherapy for cancer patients
Hypnosis is a state of deep physical and mental relaxation, somewhere between being awake and sleeping. In this state the mind can be more open to positive and calming suggestions.
This can be a very powerful therapy for developing confidence and positive feelings and reducing the stresses and tensions which can affect cancer patients at times. It can also be used, in conjunction with counselling, to assist other changes which the patient may wish to make such as giving up smoking or learning to cope with specific stress situations such as hospital appointments or various treatments. Self-hypnosis is a simple technique which can be learnt and used to great therapeutic benefit by patients, to alleviate the stresses and tensions of mind and body whenever they occur. Thus, from the therapist or by oneself, one can derive benefit.
