Spiced Fruit Sweets

4 tblsp each of sesame, sunflower and pumpkin seeds
12oz mixed dried fruits e.g. pitted dates, apricots, peaches and figs
4oz raisins
Juice 1 Orange
½ tsp ground nutmeg
1 tsp ground cinnamon
Pinch ground cloves
1oz grated dried coconut
1 oz carob powder

Finely grind the 3 seeds in a food processor or grinder.
Add the dried fruits and as much orange juice as is necessary to make the food processor run smoothly without the mixture becoming runny.
When the fruit is finely chopped add the spices and briefly process again.
Form the mixture into small balls.
Roll half in coconut and half in carob powder.
Chill for 1 hour.

Spiced sweets will keep for up to a week in the fridge. There are many variations of this basic recipe e.g. Raisin and Sultana Balls and Apricot and Brazil nut balls.
